About Us
WHO WE ARE
Founded November 17th, 2007, by Nick Laveglia and Paul Morabito, The Borough Boys are a group of supporters who want to see a New York City team in Major League Soccer. The idea did not come out of no where, as there have been rumors that the Wilpon family, owners of the New York Mets Baseball team, are interested in building a Soccer Specific Stadium in the Queens area.
While working on MLS2NYC, the Borough Boys are also committed to supporting the game of soccer, the way it was meant to be supported, on all levels throughout New York City and Long Island.
OUR MISSION
The Borough Boys were formed to be a supporter's club for a NYC professional soccer team. Our City boasts more soccer fans than any other city in the United States and yet we are not represented on the professional level. We have huge numbers of soccer fans who come from every continent on the globe, and we therefore believe that a professional New York City soccer club would be the most successful and most exciting in the United States. As the official supporter's club for the nascent team, the Borough Boys' primary mission is to help make this team a reality.
OUR NAME
Looking for a name that best describes who would be supporting this club, the name a few people threw around Borough Boys. When put to a vote this name ran away with the competition. There is no better way to describe the Supporters as well as the Club itself as we are the Boroughs of New York City.
WHO IS WELCOME
The Borough Boys welcome anyone who wishes to support the New York City Football Club. We do not discriminate against race, religion, gender or way of life. The best thing about New York is its diverse culture and we hope that the Borough Boys reflect that with songs and traditions from all parts of the Globe.
